The Invisible Black Eye

Welcome!

We are delighted you are considering joining us in this trauma-sensitive program as we navigate the terrain of recognizing and acknowledging individual, familial, and systemic cultural dynamics of abuse and oppression with the intention of easing the grip these dynamics have on us so that we can live the more liberated and vibrant lives we were born to live.

This is a 4-part series, meetings are 90 minutes for 4 weeks.

We are not experts - we are speaking from our own personal experience.

We speak from our self-evident, lived experiences related to these dynamics as we’ve witnessed them over and over again in our personal lives, in our work, and in the culture.

We recognize that acknowledging and coming to terms with these dynamics can be challenging, that’s why our work is trauma-informed which means that we are all encouraged to take care of ourselves and our needs at all times and we will work to integrate practices that foster an expanded perspective, self-compassion, and kindness.

Mindfulness and embodiment is a foundation of our work together to keep us grounded in our own experience and connected to our own inner resources of strength, discernment, and courage.

We will be learning and growing together in a community of like-hearted womxn. When we speak to and name these dynamics, we gain clarity, choice, and liberate ourselves and one another.

We’ll be exploring:

  • The patriarchy as a lived and embodied experience of trauma

  • Adaptive, self-protective responses to trauma - the Aikido for getting our needs met even when patterns are not functional or liberative.

  • Internalized Systemic Oppression, how this functions in society and in our own hearts and minds - as a kind of trauma.

This intention of this series is to uplift and empower womxn with insight and inner knowing, to raise women’s consciousness to recognize dynamics of oppression and abuse, to ground womxn in their own experience, to help womxn identify potential choices, and come into their voices as agents for trauma-informed change in their own lives and in the world.

We will meet live via Zoom. The link will be provided by 8 PM PT by December 7th, 2020.

Our events are free of charge for BIPOC, LGBTQIA community, and those that are experiencing financial insecurity.
